ttweak, in collaboration with Core Design Studio, designed the Blue Canyon Wind Farm Lookout for Horizon Wind Energy so visitors could physically experience the scale of a typical wind turbine tower, blades, and hub.

The decomposed granite path from the parking lot to the lookout is the dimension and shape of a 70 meter tower, and the inlaid gravel path is the size and shape of a 40 meter turbine blade. Additionally, the circle described by the stone paving at the end of the path is the diameter of the hub that supports the blades.

Once a visitor reaches the lookout area, he or she may view one of the turbines through fixed binoculars to get another experience of understanding the true size of the turbines. This area also contains interpretive panels with images and educational information about the Blue Canyon Wind Farm, wind turbine technology, and wind energy in general.
